New Co-CEO joins Management at gamigo AG as part of growth strategy

  • Platform strategy pushed through
  • Considerable organic and inorganic growth expected
  • Transparency offensive in communications with the capital market

gamigo AG, one of the leading publishers and distributors of free-to-play Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) in Europe and North America, is expanding its Management in preparation of future company growth. Theodor Niehues (49), an experienced manager from the IT and mobile industry, has joined the ranks as Co-CEO. With immediate effect, he will be heading the business areas of Partnering, M&A, and Capital Market Communication with immediate effect. Remco Westermann, the majority shareholder, will also share the role of Co-CEO; Joachim B. Bonke will remain COO.

With its expansion of the Management Board complete, gamigo is pushing forward its platform strategy with added momentum. gamigo will act as an independent conduit between online computer game providers and distribution channels, providing an extensive range of modular services from commercial negotiation and payment to customer relationship management. The required investments in the gamigo platform have already been made over the past few years. This second business area complementing the already profitable area of publishing promises strong growth over the coming years. gamigo intends to benefit disproportionately from this — also by making additional acquisitions.

Before his appointment as Co-CEO at gamigo, Theodor Niehues held the position of CEO at net mobile AG, where he managed to quadruple the annual turnover of the listed public company in eight years to reach EUR 130 million. Furthermore, he managed the German subsidiary of the leading Japanese mobile phone provider NTT Docomo.

At gamigo AG, Niehues also plans to intensify communication with the capital market. The aim is to inform shareholders and the general public regularly and transparently on the bond issuer’s company development (ISIN DE000A1TNJY0).

Theodor Niehues, the new Co-CEO of gamigo AG, announced: “I am looking forward to the cooperation with my colleagues on the Board and the team as a whole. Our platform strategy perfectly complements the existing area of publishing and enables accelerated, profitable growth with a solid foundation. Good communication with the financial market is of great importance here. We believe that investors place greater importance on sound, regular company information than assessments by rating agencies. We therefore emphasize that aspect in order to meet the challenges of market changes.”
