gamigo expands mobile portfolio with innovative free-to-play game Heroes and Puzzles

gamigo acquires Heroes and Puzzles, a promising and innovative story-based free-to-play mobile title. The game was developed by Ling Play and combines central mechanics of the highly popular “Match 3” genre with elements of classic role-playing games. Apart from its already strong offering of client and browser games, the gamigo group thus continues to expand its games portfolio in the seminal mobile segment.

Heroes and Puzzles

Heroes and Puzzles takes players into a lively and beautifully animated fantasy world where they can join various factions. Heroes from five different character classes can be unlocked, collected, and upgraded during the course of the game. Character creation and the matchmaking system are explained in a comprehensive tutorial that makes it easy for the target audience of casual gamers to get a grip of the game’s role-playing elements.

In May 2016, Heroes and Puzzles has been successfully soft launched in North America, Australia and Russia with the average retention rate (return rate) after installation surpassing the medium 50% for iOS and Android. The game will soon be available for free on the European Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Localizations to German and other European languages are planned as well. In-game advertisements and optional upgrade packages will be used for monetization.

By integrating the game into the gamigo portfolio and taking advantage of the resulting positive synergy effects, the game’s as yet untapped potential – especially in the marketing segment – can be optimized.

With this purchase the group continues its capital-saving, low-risk platform strategy and increases – apart from inorganic growth through acquisitions – its organic growth by adding attractive products to the games portfolio.

Jens Knauber, Vice President Publishing at gamigo AG: “Following Goal One, Zoo Zap and the popular cross-platform game The Rats, Heroes and Puzzles is an exciting addition to our established mobile portfolio. Also taking into account that My Diddl Mouse will be published shortly, we are very well positioned in this promising market segment.“
