- Acquisition of rights to top game Fiesta Online boosts further revenue and EBITDA growth
- Stake in Intenium Technologies increased to 100%
gamigo AG (“gamigo”, bond ISIN: DE000A1TNJY0), a leading player in the fast growing games market in Europe and North America, today announced the acquisition of the global rights to the successful Fiesta Online brand from South Korean developer Ons On Soft.
Fiesta Online is one of the biggest games published by gamigo AG and therefore one of the company’s key revenue drivers. Played by over 20 million registered players worldwide, the Anime MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) has been successful on the international market for eight years. Through this transaction, gamigo acquires all other language versions, including those for Indonesia and the Middle East, as well as the exclusive, global usage rights to the popular online game.
Fiesta has been published by the gamigo group since 2008. The company decided to make the acquisition in order to better adapt it to local market conditions and enable further growth for the game. A development team comprised of Europeans and Americans will be developing the game in the future. Acquiring the license will have a positive impact on EBITDA and net profit as early as the first quarter. gamigo expects Fiesta Online to generate revenue growth over the course of 2016 because the company can now respond more flexibly to player requests.
Remco Westermann, CEO of gamigo AG, comments: “Owning the worldwide usage rights to the successful Fiesta brand will enable gamigo to push ahead with its internationalization strategy.”
gamigo also announced that it has increased its stake in Intenium Technologies from 51% to 100%. Intenium Technologies focuses on the design and sourcing of casual online and mobile games. This takeover will also have a positive effect on gamigo AG’s EBITDA.
