- Acquisition of all worldwide rights to the role-playing game that has been running successfully for over a decade now
- The purchase allows for further optimization and growth for the game
gamigo AG (“gamigo”, bond ISIN: DE000A1TNJY0), a leading company within the fast-growing games market in Europe and North America, now exclusively owns all worldwide rights to the popular online role-playing game Last Chaos. With this acquisition, the company is consistently implementing its growth strategy and strengthening its game publishing business.
The purchase gives gamigo immediate access to all worldwide usage rights, to all additional language versions for the free-to-play MMO (massively multiplayer online game) Last Chaos, and to over six million registered user accounts. Until now, gamigo has published the game in Europe and North America, but with unlimited access to the source code new opportunities will arise to further enhance the game’s quality and efficiency and to advance the MMO’s development. This progress, combined with the elimination of revenue sharing fees, will result in a noticeable increase in both profitability and growth for the game.
The fantasy game, originally developed by Barunson E&A in South Korea, has been marketed successfully by gamigo AG in Europe since 2007, as well as in the global market since 2013 (USA) and 2014 (Russia, large portions of South America). The takeover enables additional territorial and linguistic internationalization through the publication of French and Spanish game clients for the US market, for example, following the model of the successful standardized Elysion server in Europe. With a total of 185 levels and nine character classes, Last Chaos is one of the most extensive titles in the gamigo portfolio.
The purchase enables gamigo to further optimize and adapt the game, immediately realize a number of already fully developed concepts, and focus particularly on the continuous implementation of new content and additional features.
A dedicated developer team will maintain the implementation of the existing and planned content – in close cooperation with the active community and the game management – in order to further enhance the successful MMO according to the players’ wishes. The direct connection to the gamigo system will allow for an even quicker deployment of bug fixes and offer a more comprehensive service, which will additionally strengthen the positive gaming experience.
Coinciding with the takeover announcement, new game servers are being made available: the license acquisition will be accompanied by launches in Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Spain, and the USA.
Remco Westermann, CEO of gamigo AG: “Since gamigo is dedicated to an organic growth plan in addition to inorganic growth through takeovers and the provision of B2B services, the acquisition of the Last Chaos rights promotes the continuing optimization of our product portfolio in compliance with our strategy and will guarantee sustainable growth.”
